Frejulfe beach

Another spectacular surfing paradise, halfway between Navia and Puerto de Vega, is Frejulfe, with the same black volcanic sand as BarayoAnother amazingly beautiful beach, flanked by sand dunes and a pine forest, and only a stone’s throw from the carpark (generally full of VW camper vans)image-2017-04-25 (10)

A great way of whiling away a few hours is to walk from Frejulfe to Navia along the coastal path, scrambling down to some of the beautiful beaches you’ll find on the way, like Fabal, almost always deserted.

Secluded Fabal beach, a short walk along the coastal path from Frejulfe

The walk is flanked by dense pine woods most of the way, home to deer, wild boar and pixies.  Needless to say, Navia is another good watering hole with masses of great bars where you can stop off for a welcome drink and tapa.
